Beginner Youth Class

Once you’ve completed your initial 4-8 one-on-one sessions and decide to fully embrace the world of fencing at the Atlantic Fencing Academy, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to join our regular weapon-specific classes. Here’s what awaits you:

Fencing-Preparatory Exercises:

  • Focused footwork drills to enhance agility and movement.
  • Fun games designed to improve coordination and concentration.

Partner Drills:

  • Collaborate with fellow fencers in skill-building exercises.
  • Sharpen your techniques through interactive drills.

Concept-Specific Guided Bouting:

  • Dive into focused bouting sessions with specific concepts in mind.
  • Explore strategies, tactics, and techniques guided by your coach.
  • Sharpen your skills and adapt your approach.

Exploration and Self-Adjustment:

  • Analyze your strengths and weaknesses on the strip.
  • Make real-time adjustments to improve and secure those winning touches.
  • It’s all about learning, adapting, and enjoying the thrill of fencing!

Fun Bouting:

  • Enjoy friendly matches with fellow enthusiasts.
  • Revel in the thrill of competition and camaraderie.

 

 

Intermediate/Advanced Class

Whether you’re a recreational fencer or aiming for competitions, our 90-minute classes cover all the essentials. Here’s a breakdown:

General Focus Areas:

  • Developing physical and technical fencing moves.
  • Improving stamina, strength, coordination, balance, and focus.
  • Learning general fencing rules and basic refereeing.

Weapon-specific Focus Areas:

  • Advanced footwork and blade work drills.
  • Engaging in either restricted or free fencing.
  • Discussing bouting strategies.
  • Learning specific rules for each weapon.

Equipment Requirement:

Fencers need their complete gear, including protective equipment (often referred to as “Whites”), electric weapons, body and extension cords, and a lame. You can choose to either rent this equipment or purchase it from our pro-shop.

Private Instructions

Our Private Instructions offer intense 20-minute one-on-one sessions with our experienced coaches. During these sessions, you’ll focus on:

  • Blade positioning and movement sequences.
  • Executing various attack and defense moves.
  • Developing solid muscle memory.
  • Honing timing and distance awareness.
  • Improving focus and concentration.
