Istvan Marton
Istvan Marton is a former member of the Hungarian National Foil Team. He was National Champion ten times and reached the finals six times at World Championships and fourth place at Summer Olympic Games. He has trained in the famous Hungarian Coaches College. He is an expert in all three weapons. His epee student, fencer Zoltan Szekely, won gold at the 1981 World Championship. For many years he worked with the Hungarian Junior National Team. Mr. Marton was invited to many countries where he developed world class fencers. He was Head Coach of the Egyptian, Tunisian and Indian National Fencing Teams. His students reached the finals at World Cups and World Championship events. Four years ago, Mr. Marton brought his expertise to the United States. He developed fencers who ranked nationally and reached the finals at the Summer Nationals. Mr. Marton’s dedication to fencing and passion to teach are great assets for our members. Maged Shaker Mac has had 20+ years experience in the realm of World Class fencing. He is a two time Olympian: Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996. Coach Shaker has trained many years in Germany with the National Olympic Team. His other outstanding achievements include: 1988 World Championship, Athens, 8th place, 1986 World Cup, Como, Italy, 1st place. Mac was 7 times National Champion in his home country.
Mac has a Master Degree in Physical Education and fencing coaching. He has coached many fencers in national and international competitions. He was Head Coach at James Madison University, VA and NJIT, NJ. He has excellent teaching skills for both beginner and advanced fencers. Many fencers have benefitted from his exceptional strategic advisement. |

Dr. Samual F. D’Ambola
Dr. D'Ambola is a legend in US fencing. He is an outstanding left handed fencer. He was a member of the undefeated Seton Hall University team. He was several times state champion in individual and in team events. He coached the Essex Catholic High School for 14 years. During his time, his fencers won nine team state championships, eight Cetrullo Tournament Championships and two greater New York Championships. Many of his fencers became interscholastic, state and national champions, leading them the legend Peter Westbrook, 1984 Olympic bronze medalist and 13 times national saber champion. Mr. D'Ambola is inducted member of the National Fencing Hall of Fame, Seton Hall University Hall of Fame, Newark Athletic Hall of Fame and Essex Catholic High School Hall of Fame. It is our privilege to have "Doc" coaching at the Atlantic Fencing Club. His lifelong experience and endless enthusiasm for fencing helps to motivate and improve our young and older fencers.
